Off on Safari

Following on from a late night we decided to head off to Animal Kingdom today - and the fact that we had a dining reservation at the Yak and Yeti for 1.30. This park always seems exceptionally hot, I think that it is due to the lack of air conditioning around some of the rides but it was still doable!  Think the temperatures were well into the 90s as well.  We headed over to Africa to ride on the safari however the queue was quite long and we didn't fancy standing there in the heat so we made us of the fast pass system and got a return time about 45 mins later.  All was good!  I enjoy the safari and seeing all the animals although sometimes they are just lazing in the sun, can't say I blame them though.  I think we just meandered around the park until the fastpass time, funny how things go out of your mind.  Then we were off!  I love seeing the animals and of course my camera has to come with me at every oppurtunity!

Lots of photo oppurtunities available this morning as most of the animals were out and about and on show.
When we came off the safari we went off on the animals trail looking at some of the other animals, sometimes just some of the smaller ones like the mole rats who build a colony under the ground a bit like a colony of bees as the Queen gives birth to all the babies!  My favourite had to be the gorillas as this fine chap sat and just looked at the crowd as he munched on his morning snack.
Well once we had visited the animals we went off to cool down a bit in the rapids.  We had to laugh as we were put in a raft with a family from South America.  As they proceeded through the line they all kitted themselves up in their ponchos so as not to get wet.  Sarah, Daniel and myself were just in our ordinary clothes no protective wet weather gear needed ( Martin chickened out!)  Well off we went on the ride, yes we got a little wet from the sprays however nothing like the father of the South American family as he got drenched, his shorts were sopping when he came off despite all his efforts to ensure he stayed dry!  I didn't laugh at all!
It was a lovely cooling ride and it didn't take long before we were dry and wandering around the park again.  We managed to do Dinosaur, the children did Expedition Everest with Martin, I sat that one out.  We also did "Its a Bugs Life" which was a 4D show and very entertaining.  I seem to have spent alot of my holiday here wearing 3D glasses, been shaken around in my seat and thrown around!

Soon enough it was time for our dining reservation in the Yak and Yeti, somewhere Sarah had wanted to eat at for a long time, since the holiday planning had started!  We were not disappointed at all and a very enjoyable meal was eaten.  The children both had Lo Mein for their main meal with a starter of Pork Egg rolls, Martin had the Tuna to start followed by Tempura Shrimp and I had fried green beans followed by Honey glazed chicken with brown chicken rice.

A lovely meal and of course we were then feeling rather full.  The skies were darkening a little bit and the rain drops started to fall slightly.  We decided that it was time to come home, relax for a while by the pool and just chill, well as much as you can in 90F heat.  Homeward bound and yes it did rain for a few moments, not quite what Martin predicted but there again his weather forecasts are never good, never ever!
